Community Art Project | North Star Vision

Let Paradise Found be a station, a safe house, a sanctuary for the growth of new visions and transformational awareness!

There is a legend that "a safe house along the Underground Railroad was often indicated by a quilt hanging from a clothesline or windowsill. These quilts were embedded with a kind of code, so that by reading the shapes and motifs sewn into the design, an enslaved person on the run could know the area’s immediate dangers or even where to head next."We are turning the bulletin board outside Paradise Found into an art installation, for you, our community, to post your thoughts, feelings, words, and drawings. We recognize that the community is going through transformational shift together, with the message of the Black Lives Matter movement at the forefront of our attention, as well as the broader, deeper situation that gave rise to that movement. This community project is a place to express feelings and responses, understanding and compassion and vision for the future. We need poetry, healing, and a means of expressing ourselves and the history we are living through together.Let's create a quilt, an all-embracing fabric that is a reminder we are Stronger Together than apart. As a society we are no longer a melting pot seeking to make everyone the same, we are a beautiful quilt that preserves a thousand memories and scraps of time and place.

We invite you to come and add a piece of art to our bulletin board, and share your work on Instagram with hashtag #NorthStarVision.
