The busy-ness of life creates modern day McGuyver’s, and we hold many roles in the hustle and bustle of living. We are problem solver’s and do-it-yourselfer’s with job titles, family obligations, and hobbies; deadlines, commitments, and party-plans. Don’t get me wrong, I love McGuyver! He always knew what to do and could save the day, but in the real world, sometimes it can all be a bit too much, and the stress and pace can be draining and confusing. We sense the need to get organized; the need to slow down; the need to escape and find equilibrium. We can pat McGuyver on the back and give him a break from the action; we can connect with who we really are in order to fuel the many activities we’ve committed to.
But which “you” do you need to connect with, in order to re-fuel? Is it the “you” that is the mother or the father? Is it the “you" that is the entrepreneur? Is it the “you” that is female or male? Is it the “you” that is the accountant, the office manager, the gardener or whatever position you hold? The many roles are only facets of The Real You. So who is the real you? Who are you really?
I believe the Real You is the part of you that is a being of divine love, divine light and divine power. It is the You that doesn’t change when the roles change. It’s the You that is constant and steady. IT experiences and facilitates all your roles and responsibilities, though IT can get forgotten in the action. IT can be overlooked, and have IT’s identity stolen. Sometimes we think that the roles we play are who we really are, until we lose the job, or the kids leave, or some other shift occurs causing us to take pause. In those moments are opportunities to connect to the essence of love, light and power that is the Real You; to connect to the truest part of who we are. When we take space to remember that our Real Selves are not our roles or thoughts or emotions, but is the Love, Light and Power within us, an easy peace replaces the stress and strain. Acknowledging the Real You, by contemplating any words connected to those qualities, is a very powerful way to start and end your day.
Connect with the Real You by choosing 3 words that reflect aspects of Love, Light and Power. They can be those words as well; “Love”, “Light”, and “Power”. Spend 1-2 minutes contemplating each word with your eyes closed, your tongue connected to your palate, while doing slow rhythmic breathing (inhale for a count of 6 and hold for 3; exhale for a count of 6 and hold for 3), and you will feel an infusion of energy pass through you, as well as a clarity of mind come over you. Just spending 3-6 min a day doing this simple Re-Connecting exercise is a game changer. I call this the Magic Word Meditation, since you can choose the words. As long as they reflect aspects of the 3 main words, your Real Self will feel revivified, alive and activated. Plus, since your Real Self knows the answer to all things, your McGuyver-ness is bound to increase.
