The 5th Letter of the Hebrew Alphabet, Hei represents divine revelation, the breath of the creator (Psalm 33:6 – By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host). The world was created with the utterance of the Hei. It represents the gift of life…It is divinity, the spiritual life that comes about through the first four letters. It represents the life essence of all creation. It symbolizes the effortlessness of the world and is the symbol of gentility, and specificity. It contains within it the freedom of choice. Hei is one of the letters of the Holy Name, giving it a special significance with the AlephBeit.
Samuel Avital, Gathering of the Sparks Kabbalah Seminars
Welcome to April, Aries, the Emperor and the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet Hei. In its physical shape, Hei has the look of a window, and according to the guidebook for The Sun and Moon Tarot, symbolizes perception. This makes sense, as a window is something we look through which frames our view. The explanation at the top of the page is from a website about kabbalah, the esoteric realm of Judaism, and gives another perspective on the letter itself. Both of these representations of Hei inform my ever-evolving perspective of the emperor tarot card (as all relative influences and my journey in life inform my interpretations of all of the cards and how they speak to me as well) and its symbolism in a reading, especially in the images of this particular card.
Hei as symbolic of the beginning of things is strongly related to the astrological sign of Aries, which is at the very beginning of the circular zodiac cycle, and in this tarot card the sun is rising behind the mountains, indicating the beginning of a new day, a new cycle. There is a powerful fiery energy at the start of things; relationships, new projects, new endeavors, the energy it takes to begin a long planned journey. The image of the beginning if a race with the sound of a shot gun comes to mind…and they're off!
I imagine the emperor as an evolved aspect of Aries. Aries, in its youth, is impetuous, fiery, reactive and ready to go instantaneously. But the emperor sits in his chair, solid and powerful-- he has been through the fire. The phoenix shield represents that he has completed that journey, and has channeled that fiery energy and built an empire with that energy, and now he sits upon strong foundation he has built (notice the rams, symbolic of Aries, on the throne) as the sun rises behind him, contemplating the earth in his hands…the bees float above him, reminding of how his work sweetens the world and he protects the sheep at his feet...
"I call to Spirit from the depths of my soul,Wanting to see, and to feel and hear you more.I will make space and time each day,To invite Spirit in and beg you stay."
Kaypacha, Pele Report, 3/20/2019
This past full moon, in Libra, on March 20th not only marked the autumnal equinox but also the beginning of the sign Aries, which begins the new astrological year. According to Kaypacha, in his Pele Report (LINK last weeks Pele Report) for 3/20/2019, this astrological snapshot actually offers a symbolic picture of the entire year to come. It is the beginning and also a premonition of what is to come through the whole turning of the wheel. I’ve linked the report to the mantra above so you can take a look/listen.
The next new moon in Aries coming up on April 4th has another new beginning for us within the frame of this already occurring new beginning:
The new moon in Aries arrives on April 5 at 1:50 AM PT. This new moon cracks the seal on Aries Season, bringing with it a refreshing new start. Aries is a sign known for its ability to take brave, bold actions towards what it desires. This new moon encourages us to do so. It’s a new moon that asks us to challenge our self-doubt by being thoughtfully responsible to all that we have committed to. It’s a new moon that demonstrates the transformational nature of being discerning, deliberate, and unwilling to be halted by unfounded fears.
Wow, so it seems that as we come into mastery we are also beginning anew and getting a whole new perspective. So perfect for the additional level of perspective that Hei adds into the whole picture of the emperor. So, let’s open up the windows (especially if some doors might have closed for us in the recent past), and let the spirit in and take a look at the new vistas being offered to us!I’ll be offering readings here at Paradise Found on Saturday, April 27th from 1:00 - 5:00 (or even 6:00) PM, please come by and we’ll take a look at what’s in your cards for this new turn in the wheel! Many Blessings, and more Gratitude,Kristine Thandeka Marie
