Generating More Energy to Move Your Life Forward
Transition seems to be the name of the game these days for many of us. If you are like me, constant demands on time make some aspects of moving through change a challenge; and unless we make emotional and physical health a priority, we can fall into stagnation, becoming less and less motivated to stay in step with the stages of change.
June’s energy tip was “Rhythmic Breathing”- Inhaling for a count of 6 slowly, then holding for a count of 3. Then exhaling for a count of 6 and holding for 3 at the bottom. That’s one cycle. Doing 5-7 cycles slows the nervous system down and has a calming and invigorating affect. In fact, the book Wisdom of the Mystic Masters by Joseph Weed, gives more details on the power of using the breath to effect rapid healing and peace of mind. Call Paradise Found to check out the book's availability!
It goes without saying that eating well and getting enough rest are part of a solid wellness program, but we frequently forget, or just do not realize that tending to matters of emotions and mind are just as important (if not more so!).
July’s energy tip is called “Pratipaksha Bhavanam”
In Sanskrit, Pratipaksha means "opposite" and bhavanam means "contemplations". Turns out the ancient mystic sages knew what they were talking about when advising humans to choose a positive thought to replace any negative ones that come up. In other words, when we become aware we are contemplating a negative thought, choose a completely opposite one, to alleviate suffering. This is also related to the principle reflected in the cliche, "every dark cloud has a silver lining". The science of this wisdom has already been proven to result in improved health on many levels, as disclosed in Dr. Andrew Newberg's book, Words Can Change Your Brain; the Neuro-Science of Communication.
Practice thinking good thoughts by becoming aware of the negative ones and deliberately choose a good one to instantly improve your mood, your heart rate, your outlook. Thoughts lead to feelings and feelings to actions. Generate more energy with rhythmic breathing and choose healthy thoughts for enhanced mood and increased vitality. With Pratipaksha Bhavanam, “I can’t” becomes “I can”; “I’m afraid” becomes “I welcome”; “How?” becomes “What?”. Since all things are in flux and changing, and nothing is ever static, why not use this cycle in your favor by purposefully moving the thought and emotion, and thus the energy away from what you don’t want and closer to what you intend?
Awareness of the quality of our thoughts becomes more enhanced with this practice and you may be surprised how often you find your mind automatically choosing a thought that disempowers and limits. Discovery of such patterns can lead to deep and lasting changes when we practice awareness through “Pratipaksha Bhavanam”. Transition becomes more manageable through these tools and they can be a powerful force to generate energy to move your life forward.
To your success!
