January 2019 Gratitude by Anna Chapman

I am constantly preoccupied with how to remove distance so that we can all come closer together,so that we can all begin to sense we are the same, we are one.

Stepping into 2019 feels like a big deal. At first it may seem that there is no particular reason why this would be so. Upon consideration (and a little research) we find that this new year begins with a Sun/Saturn conjunction in Capricorn. So what does that mean? To unpack that answer let us take a look at 2018’s new year chart and how certain aspects have unfolded.

On New Year’s day there was a Sun, Black Moon Lilith, Venus conjunction (in Capricorn).Translated: up for focused review for the evolution of collective structure (Black Moon conjunct Venus in Capricorn) our sense of values, resources, security and relationship. Black Moon ultimately demands Truth while Venus represents the qualities mentioned. There is no point in continuing with behaviour if it does not support the highest good. There were dark secrets to be exposed in the process of moving closer to Reality and a sense of security that does not need anything external to one’s self.

The political arena was an expression of this astrological aspect. Black Moon Lilith when ego oriented becomes very unattractive and mean...and desires go unfulfilled. The Sun/Saturn conjunction of New Year’s Day 2019 presents us with a very different scenario. Saturn the ‘father’, the task master does not have patience for the impractical, excess or lack of integrity. There is a serious aspect to this conjunction that supports effort to learn from one’s mistakes, take responsibility and toward persevering to complete what has been begun. Then we reap the benefits of what we have sown. The doorway into 2019 does not provide us with much wiggle room. Meaning that we are accountable for our actions—not just the few people, all people. This aspect offers strength and determination to the year that has enormous potential for improving upon what has gone before.Recently there is news that Saturn’s rings are slowly being pulled into the planet by gravity. The rings are mostly chunks of water ice ranging in size from microscopic dust grains to boulders several meters across. These observations are based on data collected by Voyager I and II decades ago. As Saturn is the planet in astrology that represents our ‘educatuion’ and in general how we may judge and be judged, the symbolic significance of these disappearing rings, that which suggests containment, restriction and limitation is a freeing of humanity from a cycle of behaviour that is in essence related to suffering. Now the fact that this process of dissolution will take 300 million years does not diminish the importance of what has been observed; how that may have an effect on the structure of collective consciousness.Change is always occurring and every moment is an opportunity to accept that, surrender to it and proceed with ease and grace. Saturn helps us focus and to bridge the gap between belief and knowing; to follow the impulses of the heart rather than attending to patterns that have long kept us in repetitive behaviours that are debilitating.Sun/Saturn conjunction as the aspect leading us into this New Year is standing in strength, determination and with a sense of responsibility for the highest good. That requires us to not be overly attached to what goes on in the external environment. We are not victims. We are masters with the potential to radiate light, compassion, Truth. It is a challenge to step out of the conditioning yes, but it is our greatest desire as freedom is the reward and gratitude for same an unending expression.Recently at the Vedanta Temple a voice inquired, “why are you here?” This was the first time I had heard that question though I had visited many times over many years. After a moment I thought, “for the stillness.” There was a pause...”for the connection”, another pause...then, “for guidance”. There was a long pause in which I felt the lack of authenticity in these answers. It seemed as though with these responses I must be seeking something and if I was seeking something that meant there was something lacking. So I sat for a moment, perhaps two or even three…“Gratitude,” I said, “Here to express gratitude!” Truth is obvious, is simple, requires no effort. So I recognized veracity in this utterance. “I am grateful for the heart profoundly beating, for the eyes observing beauty, the lips tasting the sublime nectar of life and the hands coming together to feel the eternal flow of love that eliminates all sense of separation.”

Gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has—as opposed to, for instance, a consumer-driven emphasis on what one wants or thinks they need….deep gratitude has to come from within and in a meaningful way. Practicing gratitude means paying attention to what we are thankful for to the degree of feeling more kind and compassionate toward the world at large. It can motivate people to make positive changes in their lives. Being grateful—and especially the expression of it—is also associated with increased energy, optimism, and empathy.

~Psychology Today

If we wake up and express gratitude for being here and throughout the day express gratitude for all that flows in and out of life and all that is here everyday, we alter our experience from one of wanting something and being disappointed if we don’t get that, to feeling content and satisfied—peaceful, gracious and compassionate. When we are grateful, we have every thing we require. We judge less, smile more and recognize that all of us have the same inherent desire for this peace. We may be in different stride but still emanating, still purity, still reaching out to close the gap between belief and knowing. What a year 2019 will be to support our growing up; our emotional maturity. And not unrealistic to think that tantrums will occur, the result of those reluctant to give up, let go and move on!Happy 2019 and gratitude for all of your beautiful shining and sharing!
