The crickets still sing in October. And lilly, she's trying to bloom. Tho she's resting her head on the shoulder of death, she still shines by the light of the moon.

Furtively we ease our selves from a place of active engagement to the embrace of intimate solitude where only I dwell; the shadow of a footprint remains fleetingly, erased in haste by the setting sun. That I exist at all is a memory that for a few seconds clings to life, a flaying fish, before settling into the emptiness. In the emptiness the freedom to close the eye that looks out on the world seeking what I think I have not and instead opening the view to another vista that I cannot describe nor define in any way.
My mind is in repose and offers neither comment nor ‘clever’ observation. This, offered to all of us and though we may sway to and fro, teetering on the precipice between that to which I am attached and nothing, there is no choice, eventually I fall, swallowed by desire and the truth of my own non-existence.
The Moon in Capricorn approaches Pluto as the month of October begins initiating an examination of what does not contribute to emotional integrity or non attachment (what is non attachment)?. This is a process of ruthless honesty in which we uncover whatever fears inhibit awakening and opening to Reality.
Most of this month, the Sun is in Libra (until October 23 05:30 a.m.) the sign of peace, harmony and balance. Ruled by Venus, Libra is concerned with relationship, all kinds of relationship that ultimately guides us toward equilibrium. In Libra, there is an innate sense of “where is the point of stillness”. It is neither good nor bad, black or white, evil or holy. It is beyond definition and duality.
There is the realization that “the only relationship is the One with the One.
~Vanessa Stone
With Venus remaining close to the sun throughout October, the desire for relationship may be focused upon my Self. If this is a place you seldom dwell, have patience and respect for the honesty with which you choose to discover greater depths to self. Do not be afraid to ‘leave not a stone unturned’ in your ‘pursuit’ of truth. The determination you apply to this end carries you beyond limitation into freedom and with Mars in Sagittarius there is the inclination to expend ones energies toward this goal; knowing truth of one’s self. Sagittarius seeks beyond boundaries and the conventional. The sign ruled by Jupiter wants to expand horizons, dares to take risks and explores ground where others may not tread for fear of one thing or another—loss of self, loss of beliefs that maintain that self.
In the Tarot deck the card that best exemplifies the desire for complete freedom is the Fool, 0. Nothing is known and yet there is faith that whatever lies ahead is exactly the experience one needs. It can only be illuminating in some way. For this reason, there is a feeling of excitement and anticipation for whatever shows up. There is no fear.
There is a good deal of positive attitude that goes along with this knowing by which the entire suit of Wands is represented. The III of Wands perhaps holds the greatest potential for fearless journeying as here there is vision of only positive opportunities and being guided toward and into the light. There is knowing too that what is envisioned will come to fruition. The number 3 has the power of creativity.
The third card for October is Death, XIII. Everything in nature begins the journey inward and to a death-like state as winter approaches. The Death card is transformation and relates to the planet Pluto; the influence that begins this month is carried through by the planet Saturn in Scorpio and then by the Sun and Venus moving into this sign by the 23rd of the month. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and is the only sign with three levels of experience: the scorpion, the eagle and the dove. As one moves through or transforms from the denser vibration to the least dense, the dove, there is a liberation that occurs as one casts off the physical and the mental on the way to spirit, the light.
October is a subtle month that asks only that we be in integrity and authenticity as we turn inward to examine the layers between this and “that”, a simple task, one that requires our full attention and commitment. We have respect for October and the stillness there as we realize its existence here.
