A Powerful Intersection: The Empress, Dalet and Taurus in the 2nd House
I am just so amazed at how everything unfolds so beautifully in tarot; the revelations in readings and the preparation for and unfolding of these musings. The Empress, as the active divine feminine element of surrender and release with the Hebrew letter Dalet representing a doorway, and Taurus in the 2nd house of human needs (ruled by Venus), come together so perfectly as metaphors for what is happening in the world right now.We have been in quarantine, as a global community for several weeks now and while we’ve been inside Spring has sprung and the earth has been experiencing environmental rest and rejuvenation due to an unprecedented reduction in carbon emissions and pollution from to the slowing down of modern human societies. As a human collective we really are all in this (and for the most part inside) together, even though we are physically distancing! It’s as if the COVID19 (corona/crown/circle of light) virus has opened a portal, a doorway through which we as the collective human body of the earth have chosen to move through together.

I am fascinated that the miracle of modern technology has allowed us to watch, from our solitary homes while simultaneously keeping in touch with the rest of the world, as COVID19 moves through the world. So while we’ve been asked to practice “Social Distancing” the technical nursing term, what we are really practicing is physical distancing and incorporating new ways to interact socially via the Internet, cell phones, notepads, etc. Well, it’s new to me, as a member of Generation X I’ve been very resistant to embracing the internet as a major form of personal social connection and communication; until recently, anyway.As we witness that circle of light expanding around the world it is my hope that it truly is a portal to a new level of community and living in closer relationship with the earth; becoming a new more integrated, loving species of human. We have truly gotten out of balance with the earth and with ourselves and while many of the people I know have been expecting, even hoping, for a change, what is happening now is different than anyone expected.While it’s not the bubonic plague, world war III, giant asteroids, aliens or nuclear bombs, there is widespread, fast moving illness; some of which is resulting in death. And there is a great deal of fear, especially as it appears that our infrastructures are failing and systems we had in place can no longer function to support this type of pandemic or the widespread loss of jobs and businesses that are the result of the shutdowns and quarantines, not that they were really taking care of everyone in the first place.We have come face to face with ourselves; been forced to slow down and get a good look at how we have treated each other and our planet in our hectic rush to do and be more, bigger, better faster, richer, protected from death. In our motivation to flatten the curve as well as do everything we can to protect those who are closest to the ill, many things have come to a standstill.

Hebrew letter Daleth[/caption]And as there have been millions of people unemployed while businesses have shut down, many, many people are looking at their lives and their selves and wondering who they are if they are not what they used to do. And there are people who are very ill and dying, bringing our attention to the presence of death, which, along with fear, also brings us the opportunity to appreciate our lives, family, friends, community and the earth herself, more for this short time we are here.Everything I’ve been reading, watching, listening to and feeling in my own system (and, I’ll admit it, consciously focusing my attention on) points to the possibility of powerful transformation happening in our world right now; we are being invited to move through a doorway to another level of what it is to be human on the planet now. I like to imagine that rather than going “back to normal” we are moving forward into something better.The empress card, from the sun and moon tarot, represents that beautifully, she sits in a circle of light between two trees with verdant grass, butterflies, flowers and bunnies surrounding her, this is the new beginning. She appears to be the light a the end of the tunnel. Dallet דלת is the word for door, gate and indicates resistance and the state of selflessness and humility needed to pass through it. It indicates how to pass through the gates to know one’s own mystery of being and return to the power of the Aleph – the One source of all creation and being.
Bring Love to the Situation
The one thing I do before I go out into this new world in transition for basic needs, with my mask & my hand sanitizer at the ready, is anchor myself in love and light and connect everything I see with love. And when I speak with people, I speak of tolerance and love, when they are afraid and speaking their fear, I listen to them with love and still hold my own anchor in love. I try not to impose my own perspective, only shine love and acceptance for who they are and compassion for what they are feeling and where they are right now. They are, after all, a reflection of me.A friend recently told a story of her neighbors getting into a fight and how she and her friend, rather than walking away in fear or hiding in their homes, instead, walked closer to the amplifying altercation with love in their hearts; the situation decelerated and the people fighting separated of their own accord. She was amazed at how simply approaching the situation with love changed it.What I’m hearing now and actually understanding and experiencing during this time of crisis and fear for so many, is the power that of loving prayer, thought, intention – all in action, in the moment.

We are Anchors of Light
ד The letter Dalet means "Door," and the door of life is the womb. Dalet functions as the vortex through which the potential becomes material.
This global crisis is around the fact that the world we were certain we were safe in (our 2nd House) is in a state of chaos right now and we each have the opportunity to become the eye of our own storm. I’ve often wondered exactly how the power of prayer works and the channeled information from Paul Selig in the YouTube interview linked above offers a perspective as to how that happens.The only way to shift darkness or evil is to go to the light and offer it a hand up. Prayer is taking ourselves the light and offering that hand. There is a perspective that shows the Archangel Michael actually embracing the Dragon/Lucifer in order to transform the world.What a fabulous perspective to entertain, that as human beings we are not just anchors of light connecting heaven to earth, but are actually portals, which with the power of our loving attention are able to re-member the darkness up into the light; to see the divine in everything, no matter how it may otherwise appear, is to bring it to the divine in our own minds, to raise it to the divine realms and transform the world. Yeah, I’m a sucker for a happy ending!
As we pass through the portal together...
Speaking of portals, I am reminded of the story of the king who asked his advisors to bring him something that would bring him comfort in the depths of despair and humility in the heights of success. The answer came in the form of a ring with the following words inscribed:
"This Too Shall Pass."
Try to remember, dear ones, not matter how hard it gets, that as spiritual beings having earthly experiences, we are all well-springs of unconditional love for ourselves and for those around us. As much as you can, look for the light, the divine in all beings and all situations, especially the ones that we are sure there can be none. From that perspective we can re-know/re-cognize this realm as the place of great love and compassion that it is and always has been.
