“…The sign of Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury. Mercury is the Magician, who uses control and alignment of will with natural laws to create beneficial situations, transmute stagnant energy to positive energy, and seemingly create “something out of nothing.”

"You can do magicYou can have anything that you desireMagic, and you knowYou're the one who can put out the fire
You know darn wellWhen you cast your spell you will get your wayWhen you hypnotize with your eyesA heart of stone can turn to clay"
The Magician tarot card is first and foremost the esoteric embodiment of the planet Mercury which rules the sign of Gemini. So, while the card is also related to Aries, Mars, and Virgo, and the Lovers, the Magician card is also related to the sign of Gemini, for this new moon in Gemini article, and we are going to ride with the Magician.
"Well, you don't know whatWe can findWhy don't you come with me little girlOn a magic carpet ride
Well, you don't know whatWe can seeWhy don't you tell your dreams to meFantasy will set you free..."
~Steppenwolf, "Magic Carpet Ride"(LINKED to Video)
“The third house speaks about mind, mentality, and the means of communication and organization.”
Gemini as the 3rd astrological sign also relates to the third house. I am amazed at how the list of cards with planetary and astrological assignments has brought insight to the actual worldly occurrences as we have moved along with them! The Tower in March represented the Corona Virus breaking down old structures with the beginning of the global quarantines. Then the Empress, in April, offered us a portal into another world, a birthing of something new.And here we are in May with the Magician, looking into this new world as it slowly unfolds.
“Beith is the 2nd letter of the Hebrew alphabet, [and] represents the beginning of duality...”
~Kabbalist Samuel Avital, WalkingKabbalah.com
“Beith’s literal meaning and form denote a house, and it represents the universal concept of a container or vessel. Thus the created world is meant to house within it the spiritual. The physical world is meant to be a place for the Creator’s glory to manifest. The body is meant to contain the soul, allowing it to act in this world. The dual world actually contains within it the Ultimate Oneness, but concealed. The Beith is the tool, the source of all building, containing and then bringing forth all of the other letters.”

"Beit" painting by Dani Antman (2012)[/caption]As the Hebrew letter Beit represents a house, I find it interesting that as we are contemplating and even beginning the process of exiting quarantine, we’re still a bit house bound. Not to mention the perspective of Beit that speaks of the body as the house of the spirit. Since many of us have been house bound, and forced to be in the present moment with our selves and those we live with, what have we discovered about our selves? There’s been quite a bit of weight gain for many (myself included), and yet others have maintained their health; how do we treat this most precious of homes, the body we have inhabited for our entire lives and will exit when we leave this life?It will likely be a long time yet before we are able to move about without masks and “social distancing”, and, if this pandemic is anything like the Spanish flu pandemic that occurred just after World War 1, we are not done with it, or quarantine, yet. There will likely be another, even bigger, wave and possibly another smaller one after that before we get to integration and hopefully general resistance into the world population. And what are we doing with this time? There are some, those on the front lines, who don’t have this luxury, they are working as hard as or even harder than before, while the majority of us have been sheltering in place and waiting (or possibly bursting) to get out and “get back to normal”.And yet, I am hoping that the new normal unfolding over the next year or so will be something completely different than what we left behind in March 2020.
“The planet Mercury is associated with The Magician card. Mercury was the Roman messenger god and the equivalent of the Greek God Hermes. Hermes apparently was the founder of the hermetic art of alchemy.
The hermetic axiom, ‘That which is below is as that which is above, and that which is above is as that which is below, for the performance of the miracle to the One Thing’.
In other words we are a microcosm of the macrocosm and our duty on this planet is to exalt the Creative Force through good deeds.”

With so may of us inside in more ways than one, and so many people’s livelihoods destroyed, how do we move forward? Will everyone here in America be forced to “pull themselves up their bootstraps”?Will some who have been forced to let go of a lifetime of hard work and investment be able to move forward into something new…are there even some who are relieved to be free of old chains?Supposedly there has been the opportunity for a great deal of creativity due to the down time enforced upon the majority of the population and I am so looking forward to what is being birthed right now while we have been stuck in our homes/sheltering in place. Not only will there likely be a baby boom in the near future, but there will also likely be a creative and entrepreneurial outpouring! And possibly even more fascinating things will come about that we haven’t even begun to think about yet, but others have during their sheltering. This is a great time to acknowledge our inner magician, to look at everything and anything that is unfolding from all that we have had at our disposal over the last few months.
“The Magician unites spiritual with physical and seeks to bring forth the divine light within. He completes the circuit between heaven and Earth, transformative rituals and alchemical transmutations.
In modern times the Magician symbolizes and is a token of spiritual freedom without fear. The ability to manifest the unique and having all the tools needed to do it is present when this card is presented.”

My imagination is that with looming AI technology taking over many white-collar and pink-collar jobs in a similar way that mechanization took over much of the factory & assembly line work of the past, a great many more people will need to retrain, reassess and rethink moving forward. And what better opportunity to imagine into what we came here to be and do than the time we’ve had to reflect. The human being is so amazing, our capacity for creativity and ingenuity, imagine what we are capable of if we don’t have to worry so much about survival – paying rent, bills, buying clothes and food. That frees up so much creative energy…there are conversations, books (Sacred Economics by Eileen Workman) and movements ("Transition Town") about just such a things all over the world and the internet right now!
"Human potential, in general, suggests that each person can develop, even beyond the level at which s/he was born. However, although “all is foreseen,” “permission is granted”–the permission to choose what kind of life to have and to which elevation to aspire. The question of Bet is: What lives inside your home?"
~ Erez Grinboim , The Genetic Code of the Hebrew AlphaBet
Please let this be the start, the beginning of a whole new reality of humans caring for the earth and nature and each other and letting go of greed and fear and grabbing for everything we can.
There is a better way!
The earth has always offered everything for free to us; it is we, us humans who have forgotten to take care of each other and of our Pacha Mama/Mama Gaia. The magician integrates heaven and earth, using all of the elements of earth and imbuing them with spirit to create magic; and we all have an aspect of the magician in us.It’s when we align with our higher selves, similar to “Not my will but Thy will” except with the idea that we can integrate “My will with Thy will” for a human/divine win-win!We are after all, each a single drop of divinity in this ocean of God/Divine that surrounds us. The sooner we acknowledge and work with the highest aspects of ourselves the sooner the world comes into balance!
“…having our will aligned with the Divine Will allows us to make good choices and assume control over extremes, knowing when to act and when to be still, when to think big picture and when to focus on the moment, and when to go left or right.”
~Naha Armady, 22Teachings.com
The sign of Gemini, the twins, is one of duality, and even of balance while considering either/or along with both/and. In my time working at Pacifica Graduate Institute I learned the Jungian concept of “the tension between the opposites...”Working with this understanding, we discover that as we honor our own perspective along with the other’s right to their perspective (even if we don’t agree) there is a sort of magic that happens which brings a solution to what could have been a stand off. It’s all in how we approach it.
“Everything is dual; everything has poles;everything has its pair of opposites.Like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree.Extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths;all paradoxes may be reconciled.”
~The Kybalion
When we let go of the need to be right and allow for the universe to bring the solution, we find something even better is possible than either of has had imagined when we were entrenched in our perspective.I’m looking forward to moving our stagnant bodies along with our stagnant perspectives out into the fresh air of the new paradigm and looking, with wonder, at what is unfolding next.
“…the air element can be used to get out of your head and into action, and that can be done through music, breathwork, mantra meditation or intonation, light therapy or aromatherapy, all of which use a wave vibration passing through the air element to generate healthy movement and focus for the mental body.”
~Naha Armady, 22Teachings.com
There is a great deal of fear about control and loss of freedom, etc., and I see that and have some concerns as well, and I also hold out hope that something completely different is happening that we can’t even comprehend from our current mindset. After all, as the saying goes:
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
~Albert Einstein.
"While the first house is connected to the presence of one’s consciousness, and the second house describes the relationships between the individual and the self, the third house speaks about things that go beyond the consciousness and self-identification…it describes mind, mentality, and the means of communication and organization."
As the world opens up again, it can’t possibly be the same as it was before, I don’t believe a single one of us is the same as we were before the month of March and I look forward to seeing who we are as we come out of our proverbial caves into the light! For myself, I have been obliged to take up readings via Zoom and Skype, and for as much as I was resistant to working online in this manner, I have discovered the humanity and the love and the transformation that can be transmitted through the World Wide Web.The readings are different than the ones in person and they are just as powerful in their own way; I love them!Even if it’s only for that, I am incredibly grateful for this experience as it has stretched me and encouraged me to stretch myself and discover that some of the things I have been so judgmental about have been just sitting there waiting for me to get to know them and drop my pre-conceived notions and reservations in order to explore more and bring more of myself to the world than I would have done otherwise.
"…our fundamentally human dance of development--of curiosity, imitation and communication, of adapting to and connecting with our immediate world…The way a plant reaches for light, in our 3rd house, we reach for the world with our minds…in this house we learn.”
~Dana Gerhard, Astro.com
“The true challenge of [the Magician] card and those represented with its upright position is to share their knowledge and everything they carry in their heart with other people in their life. “
"The [Magician] card speaks of…pathways that need to be built in our connection to other people, so that real flow of emotion can be established with trust and faith in the greater purpose of each relationship made…
Connecting us directly to our subconscious world and the sparks coming from it…It brings excitement about life and inspiration to move to fulfill grand potential we feel we carry along."

The exuberance of a child...*and curiosity, hope, wonder, JOY![/caption]So, dear ones, let’s keep our sense of wonder as we get our houses in order, the ones we live in along with the ones our individual souls live in, and align ourselves with the highest aspects of ourselves, whatever it is we believe to be holy or organizing in this grand universe of ours and get ready to offer the best of ourselves to the new world as it unfolds!
“… through the 3rd [house] we collect a stream of information about the changing contours of our environment. Lose interest in these changes and your mind will lose its potency.
When you cease to wonder about what's strange in your day-to-day world, when you lose your willingness to taste new words and imitate without self-consciousness, when you forego the thrill of acquiring new masteries, however small, you will lose the vast richness of this house…
In the 3rd house we're performing the good work of keeping our minds alive and, in Bob Dylan's words, “forever young.”

"People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway. The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. Think big anyway.People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Everything she does just turns me on
