This is the latest news from Julie King, James Wanless' business partner and longtime friend:
"Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your donations and support for James. He is getting out of Studio City Rehab next week, with plans to go to Tokyo (per the generosity of his Japanese agent) for 2 months of gentle reentry into regular life.
It is a miracle James is with us and doing so well! His recovery is remarkable and all of your concern, prayers and attention have and still make a difference. So far over $18,000 has been spent on medical, rehabilitation, breaking down his apartment, storage, phones, shipping and bills. He will have to face finding a new home when he returns from Japan and will be using funds for relocation and rebooting his life. Unfortunately very expensive dental work that was in process before the attack now has to be redone and is costing upwards of $10,000 due to the loss of several teeth. The gofundme is still open for donations and anything is welcome.
On a happy note and just in time for James's 80th birthday, April 22, comes the new release of his Sustain Yourself Oracle by Fair Winds press! This is the latest news from Julie King, James Wanless' business partner and longtime friend:
"James has been moved to a rehab facility and his daughter Leaf facetimed him last night and he was smiling, gave a thumbs up and tried to talk! This is awesome. He has a long recovery and is making progress! Thank you all for the donations and support. It might be good if anyone would like to send a card to him at the rehab. This will cheer him up and let the staff know that he is loved by many. Visits are still too early and the facility has very few appointments for visits (Covid protocols in Place), but I will be letting you know when visits are possible."

On August 13th, friend of the store and creator of The Voyager Tarot, James Wanless was randomly assaulted outside his apartment in Los Angeles. He is in the hospital, with a long recovery road ahead of him. All of us at Paradise Found and in James' Santa Barbara community are holding him in our hearts.
We are so grateful for the many years of programming and readings that James offered through Paradise Found. We trust that his enormous zest for life, boundless energy and huge heart will carry him through this most recent setback. We know that if anyone knows how to navigate a severe setback it is James Wanless, Master of the “Kaka” Cards. We look forward to welcoming back a fully recovered James for more fun-filled and inspiring evening romps through the tarot.
