“I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where it was always June.” ~L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
"The only dream worth having is to dream that you will live while you are alive, and die only when you are dead. To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget."
"This new Moon in Cancer is a time to sit with your emotions. As challenging as it may be to feel the many emotions that the new Moon in Cancer may bring to the surface of consciousness, this practice holds many benefits. Namely, it teaches us that when we open ourselves to our feelings, we also open ourselves to our intuition.
Cancer teaches us that our intuition is our most significant guiding force. It is connected to the infinite wisdom of the Universe and can see into the past, present, and future. Our intuition comes to us in flashes of insight and hits of brilliance. It is pure and devoid of fear, self-doubt, and judgment."
"To understand this season fully, it helps to understand the nature of the Crab, which governs the Cancerian energy. In nature, the crab exists in a world of its own, hidden behind its hard shell. As it experiences the world, it outgrows its shell. The only way for the crab to continue to evolve is to shed its old one and be vulnerable to the elements until it finds a new shell with enough room to hold its new self. The cycle continues on and on with the crab growing, shedding its shell, and finding a new one. The crab's journey represents our journey, showing us that sometimes we must be vulnerable to our feelings and the rawness of the world around us to grow into our next self."
"Cancer is feeling, longing, safety, the tides of our unseen inner world. Cancer is memory, intuition, the sacred feminine, soul history. It holds the blueprint of belonging – cyclical, non-linear, tending. It invites us to heal our relationship with feeling, to protect what matters, and to create a sacred sanctuary of home within ourselves.
The doorway into this Moon is feeling. It is emotion. And it is presence with every hurt, every pattern, every message – from both within and without – that once taught us we were not safe to feel.
For this Moon, this celestial gift offering so much – is bountiful in its offerings. It wants to give us the world. Its hands stretched out with our hopes and dreams, with our yearnings and quiet desires. But we cannot receive this beauty if we cannot open to feeling. The doorway is emotion.
And so, let this beautiful zodiacal energy take you by the hand and welcome you into the sacred chambers of your heart. What is longing to be felt?"
"On June 25, the Sun and Moon meet in the soft, protective, and nourishing waters of Cancer, giving rise to a New Moon that whispers of home, belonging, and emotional renewal. When the luminaries align in this cardinal water sign, something inside us quiets down, just enough to hear what the soul is trying to say.
This lunation is not loud. It doesn’t shout or demand. It simply invites. It invites us inward, into the sanctuary of our feelings, into the rooms of our emotional memory. Cancer is ruled by the Moon itself, so when the New Moon rises here, it speaks the language of vulnerability and restoration in its purest form.
This is a moment to return; return to what matters, to what once made you feel safe, whole, real. It is a moon that asks us to plant seeds not in the soil of ambition or logic, but in the fertile ground of emotional truth."
"Every year in the Northern Hemisphere, the start of Cancer Season coincides with the Summer Solstice. Meanwhile, in the Southern Hemisphere, winter is beginning. The cycle of the Sun represents the cycle of our lives and reflects the natural flow of energy moving inward and outward. There are times to grow, times to pause, times to shed, and times to learn. Just as we align with the Moon’s journey every month, we can align with the Sun’s journey throughout the year with the four seasons.
The Summer Solstice represents the transition from action to nourishment. As the days grow longer, the Sun gives our bodies and the plants around us more life-giving energy. We can bask in the summer glow and recharge our spirits with light. As our physical world is nurtured by the Sun, so is our spiritual world. Summer and the light it brings remind us that there is hope in the world. They also teach us that we each carry a light within that can spread to the far reaches of the globe to inspire others. We can nurture those around us, just as the Sun nurtures us."
"The Summer Solstice is a sacred time, commemorated by our ancestors through fire and ceremony, honoring the sun as it peaks high in the sky and stretches the day into the longest of the year. It’s often said to be a time of new beginnings; with the changing of the seasons, we say goodbye to a long, stagnant period of self-reflection and welcome the fiery energy of the sun to propel us forward.
This very physical changing of the seasons is a powerful time to manifest spiritual transformations. Rituals to release, cleanse and renew, sacred scents, and other tools from nature’s pharmacopeia paired with ancestral wisdom can be applied and adapted today in simple yet effective ways."
"I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart. I am, I am, I am.”

"Let me, O let me bathe my soul in colors; let me swallow the sunset and drink the rainbow."
A grounding practice I have recently picked up is called a Color Walk. Essentially, I set out for my daily walk (often in the evenings when the hot summer sun has begun to set), and choose one color for that night that I want to spot. I activate my mindfulness of sight and look for things that are the color I have chosen. For example, say you've chosen yellow. Then you see a yellow flower, a yellow fire hydrant, a yellow bumble bee, a yellow book in the lending library, a yellow house, a yellow bird, and a yellow squash growing in a garden....
It's eye spy for a frazzled nervous system. As the moon wanes to be just a shadow for this New Moon in Cancer, the invitation is to feel. In order to feel with depth, to access our intuition, to gain insight - we must ground ourselves into a sense of balance within. This walk will help with this process of coming back into yourself while coming into communion with the world around you.
Use feeling and intuition to guide you on your walk - what color does your soul need to see today, which way do you want to turn, what feelings arise as you embark on this journey, how do you feel at the start of your walk versus the end, what omens or messages do you receive during this time?
If you feel so inclined, you can find items throughout your walk that want to come home with you - a fallen leaf or flower, a stone, a fragrant sprig of mint, a magical stick... with these items that may align with your color or not, you can bring them home to place on your altar. Use these items as a reminder of the grounding that you experienced on your walk.
Close this ritual with a moment of gratitude, both for yourself and your process, as well as for the gifts of Earth and Ether that we are surrounded with each day.
Happy Cancer New Moon! May your beautiful feeling heart guide your path.
