I am following my unique path, without hesitation, planting my feet firmly one after the other
I am strong and tenacious like an ancient oak tree, deeply rooted and reaching high
I nurture the seeds of enlightenment, compassion, and joy within my self
I am open, relaxed and flexible--fully alive, intuitively adapting and creating new patterns every day...

New Moon in Capricorn Sunday 1/2/2022, 10:33 a.m. PT

"The first New Moon of 2022 greets us two days into the new year. This time allows us to lay the groundwork for our visions to bloom over the next twelve months. The start of the year can bring up many emotions and even pressure to declare resolutions. As you work with this New Moon’s energy, know that it is an opportunity to form a lifestyle for yourself that will hold space for your visions to evolve. Nothing is carved in stone, and you are free to change your intentions at any point. You do not need to have it all figured out right now. Just focus on how you want to feel over the next year, and the details will fall into place.

Over this New Moon, create some structure in your life that can help you remain accountable to yourself and will set the vibration of your day. We change over small increments of time through focus and commitment. Most of this change occurs through daily explorations of feelings, thoughts, and energy. Furthermore, this is ultimately what we want—small shifts that we can process, integrate, and solidify.

As you work with this New Moon, think of it as a blueprint for every day of this year. Set up practices and rituals that can become part of your daily life. Start with the central question of how you want to feel, then ask yourself what helps you feel that way and maintain that vibration. Next, experiment with practices that nurture this state within you. Often, it helps to work with the first hour of the morning. In this space, cultivate practices that guide your energy and allow you to shift both internally and externally. Perhaps this time includes yoga, meditation, journaling, card pulling, playing a sound bowl, or simply connecting with nature over a cup of tea. Harness the energy of this New Moon to guide you to what helps set the tone of your vibration each day, knowing these practices will go on to change the vibration of your life."

"Capricorn is the steadfast sea goat who can traverse any land or sea. This energy reminds us that with the right focus and determination, we can accomplish anything. Nothing is out of the limits of this energy. It inspires us all season to fully commit to everything we do. It’s a wonderful energy to start a new year with and can set the tone for the next twelve months. The most important aspect of this season is to find and commit to what is worth your energy."

"Our first new moon of 2022 occurs on Sunday, January 2, at 10:34 a.m. PST, when the Sun and Moon conjoin at 12°20´ Capricorn. The strongest aspect in the lunation chart is a trine between the New Moon and Uranus, which allows new, more progressive potentials to unfold during the new lunar cycle. This harmonious aspect to Uranus, the planet of Higher Consciousness, also enables us to utilize higher insights when deciding on our concrete goals for the new year."

"January is the month of Capricorn. We can give thanks for all the mountain goats who are patient and persistent as they pursue their goals with determination. Challenges are met with courage and a will to succeed! They will lead us higher as we seek to rise above any limiting circumstances. Capricorn relates to structure, building and bringing together resources that successfully support any project.

The New Moon in Capricorn at 12 degrees is almost mid-sign and in the second set of ten degrees or the second ‘decan’ ruled by Venus the ruler of the next earth sign, Taurus. This combination is hard work that does duty for the goddess of beauty and pleasure. Comfort has a lot to do with pleasure. We need to be comfortable before we can consider being pleased. Working towards a comfortable existence for the majority. That is the underlying objective with these astrological influences—Uranus, Capricorn, Venus and yet to be mentioned is Mercury in Aquarius the sign that is home to Uranus.

Mercury the messenger has just entered the sign of Aquarius, the voice of Reason, the voice of collective good, of that which serves an enlightened Life. We are challenged on an individual and a collective basis to embrace greater awareness and this we are doing! This is the time to reap the rewards for hard work accomplished in the past and utilize that powerful support system to gain ground in favor of enlightened society. This is the message of Mercury that is in Aquarius until the 27th of January when it retrogrades back into Capricorn."

Life is a precious gift, and living well is an intentional practice. As we move into the new year many of us will be exploring healing and meditative practices, and deciding which ones we want to bring with us as we create new patterns, and pick up the thread of old patterns where we left off.

One of the most powerful regular practices is journaling or writing. In her book, Writing as a Sacred Path, Jill Epson writes beautifully about the special power of writing to nourish our spiritual lives:

"Your writing can serve your spiritual life, whatever path you are on. It can nourish your beliefs, deepen your awareness, and strengthen your conviction. It can bring your values into focus, clarifying and energizing your way along your chosen path...

When we write, we are showing a deep appreciation for the world around us and for our opportunity to journey through it as human beings. The stories and poems we create are offerings of gratitude for those gifts. Anything that is written with authenticity--whether a serious essay or a comedy sketch--gives you the opportunity to examine your relationship to the human community, the Earth, and the Divine."

~Jill Epson, Writing as a Sacred Path

Our awareness in the world is a magical experience in many ways. Keeping a journal of your feelings and experiences is a good way to tap into living more consciously and intentionally.

Here are three of the many kinds of writing you could experiment with this year:

Start keeping a Dream Journal | Dream journals are powerful tools for understanding ourselves, giving voice to a deep inner knowledge that often expresses itself without words, in the language of symbol.

Life Planning, Brainstorming and Goal Tracking | Journal about everything you hope to accomplish in the coming months. Set goals that you can work on every day, and track your progress--we have several planners designed to make this easier--Simon & Schuster Self-Care, Gratitude, Meditation, Unplug.--Cycles Journal + Youth Edition--Magic of I planners?

Activate your creative powers | Write a story, a poem, or even a beautiful description of nature--sketch with words, or draw an actual picture! You may feel inspired to compose a special blessing or meditation, or to keep a journal of quotes and short texts that are most helpful for you.

Jill Epson also explores the connection between writing and meditation, because like meditation, writing "involves the same self-exploration, open heart, and willingness to think in new ways. It also requires the same type of deep, focused attention that meditation entails. Poet Naomi Shihab Nye compares the long, loving look that we use when we write to the continuous, deep looking at reality we do during meditation. For those who are seeking a path, writing can serve as a guide for the search and as a companion while you seek--and might end up being the path you are looking for...

Let yourself dream and wonder, explore, plan, and create!
We hope to uplift and inspire you at this turning of the year.
Many blessings to all.

"Developing the sacred aspects of writing can create remarkable synergy. When you see your writing as a profound expression of your self, the deepest sources of creativity within you will open."
