"I  look past my noisy mind and tap into my inner wisdom.
I open my awareness to life in all its diversity
I stay true to my own wisdom, what I already know.
I follow my own path, my own rhythm and my way of communicating what I know to be true.
I stay true to myself and not search for security in others.
I bring my thoughts, actions, and desires into alignment."

New Moon in Gemini | Solar Eclipse!

The New Moon brings us an Annular Solar Eclipse. This type of Eclipse occurs when the Moon moves in front of the Sun, creating a “ring of fire.” The annular phase of this Solar Eclipse is visible from parts of Russia, Greenland, and northern Canada. Those in Northern Asia, Europe, and the eastern United States will see a partial Eclipse. The Eclipse begins at 8:12am UTC or 1:12am PDT. The maximum Eclipse occurs at 10:41am UTC or 3:41am PDT. It ends at 1:11pm UTC or 6:11am PDT. Those in the US will be able to see the Sun rise as a partial eclipse.

Solar Eclipses help make the unconscious conscious and therefore change our reality. The Sun represents our conscious will. It is the core of our personality and gives life to our ideas. The Sun represents the energy we put out into the world and the story we tell others about ourselves. The Moon, on the other hand, is our unconscious, subjective world. It represents the energies we keep hidden from others or only reveal to those close to us. The Moon is linked to our intuitive nature and helps us understand our inner knowledge. It also illuminates our emotional needs, highlighting feelings that we need to work through or understand at a deeper level.

During an Eclipse, the Sun, our conscious will, is eclipsed by the Moon, our intuitive unconscious. This merger of Solar and Lunar vibrations brings out energies normally buried in our subconscious to light. We can understand our past experiences and our interpretation of them. Our inner dialogue becomes loud and clear as we see how it shapes our existence. We can gain a glimpse at how our inner world becomes part of our outer world. A Solar Eclipse makes it obvious how our unconscious beliefs shape our personality and the energy we project. We can connect dots that normally seem unrelated, and we can unearth old habits that are still affecting who we are today.

This Gemini New Moon has the potential to open our minds and rewrite the story of our lives. It can be the start of a new path, including a new way of thinking and being. Coupled with the Solar Eclipse, we have the opportunity to walk away from thought patterns and limiting beliefs that do not support our highest potential. We can detach from old stories and mental constructs that are based in the past. The key to working with the energy of this day is to listen. Be open to receiving signs, messages, and information. Then allow this knowledge to open your consciousness and expand you.

The combination of the fast-moving energy and the explosive energy of a Solar Eclipse can feel chaotic to our nervous system. There is a lot of energy this day. It can cause restlessness, overthinking, impulsive action, and even anxiety. It’s important to stay grounded through the day with breathwork and meditation. It’s also helpful to connect with nature. Spend time with the Earth and allow her to root you in the present. Be mindful of when your thoughts race to the future or the past. Instead, feel your feet on the ground, see the colors around you and bring your mind to the present. It’s only in the present that you can do the work this Solar Eclipse provides. It’s only in the present you can hear the messages of your soul and the Universe.

Use the Power of Your Words to Magnify Love

“Your word is the power that you have to create; it is a gift.”
~Don Miguel Ruiz
“Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.”
~Buddha
"Notice the statements or mantras you tell yourself each day. Do they support you, or do they bring up self-doubt? What are you telling yourself each day, and how do these tales affect your world? Be open to unlearning and letting go of things you once held true.

It can feel like a wild roller-coaster of the mind. If you feel anxious or restless at any time, steady yourself with your breath. It may feel uncomfortable to release familiar stories, behaviors, and ideas, but this Season is a time to grow in unexpected ways. Growth is never easy, but it's necessary."

Our words have tremendous power, and when we express love and compassion to others, it can transform people's lives. Sending out positive energy is a practice of self-healing, and healing the soul of the world. One of the best ways to love others is to start by loving yourself--fill your cup first, so that you can give generously and share the love. A question that comes up often is, how can we fill our cup, so that we can pour out this love to others?

Self-talk is a powerful tool in our toolbox, as demonstrated by Louise Hay's widely known practice, Mirror Work. This practice, explained below, is a way to consciously speak positively to yourself, and improve your relationship with your Self. This practice can open the door to a whole new world of relating to others, and bringing your best and most loving self to every interaction. While her book, Mirror Work, outlines a 21-day course, we are starting with day 1, to give you an entry into this powerful medicine.

Learn to Love Your Self through Mirror Work!

"Mirror work is the most effective method I’ve found for learning to love yourself and see the world as a safe and loving place. I have been teaching people how to do mirror work for as long as I have been teaching affirmations. And what are affirmations? Put simply, whatever we say or think is an affirmation. All of your self-talk, the dialogue in your head, is a stream of affirmations. These affirmations are messages to your subconscious that establish habitual ways of thinking and behaving.

Positive affirmations plant healing thoughts and ideas that support you in developing self-confidence and self esteem, and creating peace of mind and inner joy. The most powerful affirmations are those you say out loud when you are in front of your mirror. Why? Because the mirror reflects back to you the feelings you have about yourself. It makes you immediately aware of where you are resisting and where you are open and flowing. It clearly shows you what thoughts you will need to change if you want to have a joyous, fulfilling life.

As you learn to do mirror work, you will become much more aware of the words you say and the things you do. You will learn to take care of yourself on a deeper level than you have done before. When something good happens in your life, you can go to the mirror and say, “Thank you, thank you. That’s terrific! Thank you for doing this.” If something bad happens to you, you can go to the mirror and say, “Okay, I love you. This thing that just happened will pass, but I love you, and that’s forever.”

For most of us, sitting in front of a mirror and facing ourselves is difficult at first, so we call this process mirror work. But as you continue, you become less self-critical, and the work turns into mirror play. Very soon your mirror becomes your companion, a dear friend instead of an enemy. You may be wondering, why 21 days for the program? Can you totally transform your life in just three weeks? Maybe not totally, but you can plant the seeds.

As you continue to do your mirror work, these seeds develop into new, healthy habits of mind that open the door to a joyous and fulfilling life. Doing mirror work is one of the most loving gifts you can give yourself. It takes only a second to say, “Hi, kid,” or “Looking good,” or “Isn’t this fun?” It’s so important to give yourself little positive messages throughout the day. The more you use mirrors for complimenting yourself, approving of yourself, and supporting yourself during difficult times, the deeper and more enjoyable your relationship with yourself will become."

Your Day 1 Mirror Work Exercise:

  1. Stand or sit in front of your bathroom mirror. (You can also use a pocket mirror throughout the day, and do this practice anywhere!)
  2. Look into your eyes.
  3. Take a deep breath and say this affirmation: "I want to like you. I want to really learn to love you. Let's go for it and really have some fun."
  4. Take another deep breath and say, "I'm learning to really like you. I'm learning to really love you."
  5. This is the first exercise, and I know it can be a little challenging, but please stay with it. Keep taking deep breaths. Look into your eyes. Use your own name as you say, "I'm willing to learn to love you, [Name]. I'm willing to learn to love you."
  6. Throughout the day, each time you pass a mirror or see your reflection, please repeat these affirmations, even if you have to do it silently.
~Louise Hay

Because Mirror Work reveals to you instantly the areas of resistance and discomfort, it is very helpful to journal throughout the process, and record evolutions in your reactions, feelings and beliefs about yourself. This practice is an amazing way to discover unconscious "blocks" and help get your energy flowing freely, as well as strengthening and opening your heart to be more resilient and compassionate with yourself and those around you.

When we are whole, we can share the experience of wholeness with others, and between us we can accomplish great works, namely healing, heart repair and increasing the positive vibrations in our environment. Cultivating good vibes is an essential human activity. No one can do it all on their own, but we can prepare ourselves to be a part of the greater work of weaving together all our lives and loves into a living tapestry of light.
