Return of the Butterflies: Community Memorial Altar at Paradise Found

This is our 3rd Samhain & Dia de los Muertos Altar! Lovingly created by local artist and woodworker Rebecca Zendejas. We invite you to stop by and write the names of loved ones who are in spirit form, and add them to the altar.

Samhain & Dia de los Muertos Altar
When: October 21st - November 2nd, 11am-6:00pm
Where: Paradise Found - 17 East Anapamu Street

Join us in the last week of October and commemorate your loved ones who are in spirit form.

Local artist and woodworker, Rebecca Zendejas will be creating a Community Memorial Altar in our shop, inspired by the celebrations of Samhain and Dias de los Muertos.

We invite you to stop by and write the names of deceased loved ones on ‘eucalyptus leaves’; adding the leaves to the altar with butterfly clips.

Your participation is lovingly encouraged.

How this tradition started...

A universal symbol of transformation and hope, the butterfly has long been associated with the spirits of deceased loved ones in cultures across the globe.  With this in mind, local artist Rebecca Zendejas approached Paradise Found the summer of 2020, with the idea to create a community memorial altar, inspired by the celebrations of Samhain and Dias de los Muertos.  Since then, the creation of the altar has become a beloved annual event.
