"2025 may be the year where we filter out the buts and shoulds and all that we have been conditioned to, that we may forge our paths solely based upon the messages we receive in stillness."
“And suddenly you know…It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.”
As we approach the beginning of a New Year, as often we do with excitement and anticipation, what wisdom there is in noticing the various signs that appear to guide us forward; to assist us in navigating our way toward what it is we most want to accomplish in the year ahead.
2025 is a 9, the number that is at the peak of experience. It is where we ‘perform’ to the very best of our abilities based upon all that we have learned and integrated. Number 9 is human evolution. It is service to humanity and the number of keen observation.
This ability to observe, as a poet might, as any artist might, gives us access to various depths that might not be available otherwise. We employ all of our senses in stillness. Awareness is aware. Stillness, we may come to realize, is what remains when our pre-conditioned state desists.
“Worried of course, defeated of course, old of course. Grateful of course, ever since the background dissolved.”
Then, every tree has a message. Every bird song is magic and every language touches our heart as it originates from deep within. The signs and symbols that exist everywhere speak to us of life lived in gracious space. The one goal is freedom to embrace that life.
2025 may be the year where we filter out the buts and shoulds and all that we have been conditioned to, that we may forge our paths solely based upon the messages we receive in stillness. We sit by the river and listen to its song. We are carried forward on the current of Life and are immersed in precious knowing that there is nothing ‘I need do’. We are met with everything in that flow.
"2025 is the year of the wood snake (begins January 29), a potent symbol for an energy that provides us with “wisdom, intuition, and transformation that also represents elegance, resilience and mystery.”
Snake is also a symbol of rebirth. Snakes shed their skins dispensing with the old and accepting what is new. New beginnings are a theme for 2025. Astrologically four planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) will enter new signs between March and July. These slower moving planets represent collective energies that effect the ‘big picture’. Pluto, the outermost planet, moved into Aquarius in November of this year.
Pluto has not been in Aquarius since 1778-1798. During this time the American (1775-1783), French (1789-1799) and Haitian (1791-1804) revolutions took place. It was also the Age of Enlightment (1685-1815). We want to be prepared for those events that will catalyze growth, expansion and transformation. The rushing river carries us along. Without resistance we are exactly where we need to be, at exactly the right moment.
In 2025 the prevailing wind is from the SSW. We are moved by this direction to resolve long standing patterns of belief and come together in community. We protect the weak and offer healing to everyone in need. Everyone receives and everyone gives.
If we take a look at the New Moon chart for December 30th we see two outstanding geometries.
One is a T-square, Jupiter in Gemini opposite Mercury in Sagittarius and Saturn in Pisces square (90 degree aspect) both planets. The other is Mars in opposition to Pluto.
The significance of these geometries sets the stage for a prevailing theme in 2025—a determination to reveal the truth and provide the pathway for growth and open communication. The nature of a T-square is edgy, stressful yet seeks balance seen through the opposition. In this New Moon chart that is Jupiter opposing Mercury—Jupiter in Gemini, the messenger, and Mercury in Sagittarius, the Truth Seeker. Mercury is the ruler of Gemini.
The message of Sagittarius is freedom to embrace Truth. Saturn in square aspect to Jupiter and Mercury applies pressure to focus and let go of anything that does not facilitate the delivery of, and application of the message with wisdom.
The second aspect of note in this chart is the Pluto/Mars opposition. Both are rulers of Scorpio the sign of transformation. Pluto is the planet of elimination for transformation and Mars is the action that will carry it out. And Mars in Leo loves attention. What occurs for ‘our highest good’ could be some overt and explosive events; drawing attention to what needs ‘fixing’.
It is important to see also, that Neptune the planet of idealism, imagination, spirituality trines (120 degree aspect of ease) Mars, influencing the way that Mars will respond to the call for action. The ultimate goal is rising out of the base nature that is egocentric to consider what works for everyone.
Now, how can we best utilize all of these energies on an individual level to promote personal well-being and confidence? How do we weather any storm? How do we bring balance and peace to any situation that feels unbalanced and conflictual? If we remember the direction of the wind in 2025, SSW, we can use the symbolism of this as a guide.
Archangel Michael presides in the south. He is protection and passion and the fire that burns to purify. He is the right hand of God—Michael is the Divine Warrior.
Saturn and Neptune both move into the sign of Aries next year. Aries is the spiritual warrior and he/she who leads us into new territory. Each of us can plug into this energy as Aries rules a house in every chart (except those in which Aries might be intercepted). Mars, the planet that rules Aries, is also in everyone’s chart. Take a look at your chart to see which house Aries rules and in which house Mars is found.
These are indicators of how and where you most want to show up with passion and the courage and determination of the spiritual warrior/hero. Heroes do not waiver. They stand firm in the center of knowing who they are. When all else around them seems to crumble, they are resolute and calm. Heroes are the eye of the storm.
The west direction is the domain of archangel Gabriel, the Divine Messenger. As the west direction is water, Gabriel’s message encourages going with the flow and being flexible to adapt to new situations. As the Divine Messenger Gabriel guides us to find our own voice and speak the truth.
Next year Jupiter moves from Gemini into the water sign Cancer for a year. Cancer represents a deeper level of caring and nurturing. It is ruled by the Moon, the mother. Our message for next year involves nurturing and caring—taking care of those in need. Sometimes that begins with our selves so that we may be liberated from the pursuit of ‘that which makes me feel loved/wanted’ and better positioned here to rise to the peak of my expression.
Lastly we discuss the New Moon in Capricorn which is sextiled (60 degree) by Capricorn’s ruler Saturn. Saturn represents maturity. This combination emphasizes the need for all of us to continue doing our best to rise above the old, less workable ways and show wisdom associated with maturity. Saturn and Capricorn also demand that we take responsibility; we can’t stick our heads in the sand; responsibility for how we show up day to day. The sextile combines ease with work so we can’t expect to get away with very much.
There are challenges ahead according to these signs and symbols but nothing we cannot handle as we continue to explore and express the deeper aspects of our nature. The deeper we go, beyond the fears and emotional confusion, we find the compassion to accept, allow. Patience and peace defuse many volatile situations. It is from this place that we weather the storm and find it’s ferocity diminished.
Happy and abundant New Year! We all go together into this, hand in hand.
“You cannot control anything. You cannot order or command everything. You cannot fix and repair everything. You cannot protect your children from pain and loss and tragedy and illness. You cannot be sure that you will always be married, let alone happily married. You cannot be sure you will always be employed, or healthy, or relatively sane. All you can do is face the world with quiet grace and hope you make a sliver of difference.”
"To become human is to become visible, while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others."
