Sail into Spring on Winds of Change

Spring is here! A fresh breeze fills our sails as we navigate out of the "dead calm" of the doldrums, and back into dynamic motion. We rediscover the joy of new experiences, changing horizons, and the beauty of each new day.

“The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”
~Christopher McCandless, Into the Wild

As we wind our way through the nooks, crannies and adventures of life, seeking to attain what persistently seems to evade us, we are dauntless in our desire to perpetually rise up. In the darkest recesses of the process we go through we always know that change is inevitable. Whatever grief or sorrow or depression I experience I know that ‘this too shall pass’. Deep within, where the waters eternally flow, is the freedom and peace I seek.

I am not my thoughts in which I at times, become entangled. Chaos and confusion engulf me. If I, for a moment, remain present now and between these thoughts, there is nothing. Not a ripple. No breeze even to distract me. It is in this ‘in between’ that I rest. Change happens all about and yet I am in this place of stillness.

For the last several months we have experienced enforced rest. Nothing was moving, materializing in spite of the best efforts. In nautical terms this stasis might be likened to the ‘doldrums’; what ships may experience whilst navigating the belt around the Earth five degrees north and south of the equator. Windless waters are the result of atmospheric conditions that can ‘becalm a sailing ship for weeks’.

Eventually a random weather condition occurs producing a gust of wind that can move the ships out of these hot, low pressure areas and the monotony and ‘ill health’ that are a result of such stagnation.

Rest has given us many moments for contemplation and inner reflection. These moments that often create frustration are moments to be appreciated. A rest, as in a musical silence, “is just as important as the musical note and it is an essential and an integral part of music and music composition.” ~DonRathJr.com

Now however, our down time is a thing of the past. Spring arrived three weeks ago. Yang energy prevails! We are caught up in the wild energy of the creative force and this new moon, solar eclipse and devil’s comet (that happens to be in this neighborhood at the same time April 8th) represent a super jolt of energy. The result of this is a quantum leap in consciousness and change that may have many (if not prepared) in a place of dismay.

Good news is we’ve been preparing for some time. Think of all those new moon events recently that have aligned with Uranus shining the light upon this path we travel to greater awareness in every corner of the collective experience.

On a personal level this motivates us to clean house; to get rid of that old stuff that inhibits our ability to take action. Clear the clutter, gain clarity. We are going with the flow!

“Hark, now hear the sailors cry, smell the sea, and feel the sky let your soul & spirit fly, into the mystic.”
~Van Morrison

Change, new beginnings are what this new moon, solar eclipse in Aries is all about. The first sign of the zodiac, I seek Self, is committed to self mastery, independent, courageous authenticity. It is in exact conjunction with Chiron, the wounded healer at 19 degrees 24 minutes Aries. Therefore we seek to heal our wound to the ‘I am’. This carries us beyond the limiting victim consciousness that has defined the collective for a very long time.

The new moon is also close to conjuncting the north node (15 degrees Aries). The north node is where we achieve the greatest growth. Understanding the nature of self in relationship to Self provides us the avenue for knowing that there is no this (self) or that (Self). All is the same/one. No separation. We are freed from limiting patterns generated by the concept of self as a real entity to which things happen. This has promoted victim mentality.

New moon. New beginnings. The moon is at perigee, closest proximity to the earth and is therefore referred to as a super moon. The energies that influence us now are magnified and far reaching. Change is not just about the micro but includes the macro. We may not recognize the new terrain but we willingly embrace the unknown. Thank goodness! We know that we do not resolve or create based upon what we have tried in the past.

All the energies demand that we let go of preconceived ideas and open to a superlative cosmic download. The comet, 12 P/Pons-Brooks (devil’s comet) that joins the new moon is also historically a messenger of change. It’s last appearance was in 1953 the year the Korean war ended, Joseph Stalin died, Queen Elizabeth was crowned, USSR set off a hydrogen bomb, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first to climb Mt. Everest.

Comets are born from chaos and represent the birth of new ideas and life. In China they are referred to as the broom star and are known for sweeping away the old, clearing the way for what is new.

Also to be noted, is the Sun peaking in its 11 year cycle. This is when massive solar flares and solar magnetic storms occur that have the potential to disturb electronic activity on Earth. Unfamiliar physical challenges on a personal basis may also be noticed during heightened solar activity.

We want to be prepared on all levels to open up to imminent change, the evolution of our species that is an organic process, not something to be controlled or resisted. By April 20th when Uranus and Jupiter form an exact conjunction we will be strongly motivated collectively and personally to, according to what is wise, just go with the flow. As well as being about growth and expansion Jupiter imbues us with the faith and trust to forge ahead in spite of any fears that remain with us from the past. If not now when?!

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
