"As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries brings us the will to survive. It represents the first seeds of life that have to endure challenging circumstances to grow and fulfill their destiny. Aries is associated with our primal instinct and our raw emotional urge to live. It represents the part of us willing to battle to find our place in the world. This energy can be loud and demanding. It asks us to climb mountains to align with our life's journey. It also asks us to put ourselves first, especially when finding our purpose. Aries teaches us that to not only survive but to thrive, we need to choose ourselves."

~Spirit Daughter

"The fire element is associated with our ability to see—both through the physical light of the sun that illumines things and the spiritual light of consciousness that removes the darkness of ignorance. Connect with the light, then see clearly.

Fire energy can be both purifying and terrifying— physically and spiritually. Let’s contemplate fire as the luminous fire of the sun and the moon, fire of the hearth, fire of bombs, fire in the forest, fire of discernment, fire of self-discipline, fire of anger, fire of hatred, fire of love, fire of greed, fire of determination, fire of self-restraint, fire of sacrifice, fire of transformation, fire of destruction, fire of digestion, fire of self-will, fire of divine will, fire of desire, fire of spiritual longing, and the soul-fire of willingness."

~Yogacharya O'Brian,

"Change, new beginnings are what this new moon, solar eclipse in Aries is all about. The first sign of the zodiac, I seek Self, is committed to self mastery, independent, courageous authenticity. It is in exact conjunction with Chiron, the wounded healer at 19 degrees 24 minutes Aries. Therefore we seek to heal our wound to the ‘I am’. This carries us beyond the limiting victim consciousness that has defined the collective for a very long time.

The new moon is also close to conjuncting the north node (15 degrees Aries). The north node is where we achieve the greatest growth. Understanding the nature of self in relationship to Self provides us the avenue for knowing that there is no this (self) or that (Self). All is the same/one. No separation. We are freed from limiting patterns generated by the concept of self as a real entity to which things happen. This has promoted victim mentality.

New moon. New beginnings. The moon is at perigee, closest proximity to the earth and is therefore referred to as a super moon. The energies that influence us now are magnified and far reaching. Change is not just about the micro but includes the macro. We may not recognize the new terrain but we willingly embrace the unknown. Thank goodness! We know that we do not resolve or create based upon what we have tried in the past."

Aries is a bright flickering flame to gather around. Aries holds the ancient power of communication from the days of smoke signals. In Aries we feel the heat from the light of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding warm us to our core.

At the start of a new astrological year, fiery Aries calls us to be our most courageous, vital selves. We are being asked to believe in ourselves and tap into deep inner sources to renew our energy and motivation.

Total Solar Eclipse in Aries 19°22 | Monday 4/8/2024 - Totality at 11:18 a.m. PT

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cause the moon's shadow to sweep across North America, creating a celestial spectacle visible from major cities across the continent. During a total solar eclipse, the Moon blocks the Sun’s bright face — the photosphere — briefly revealing our star’s outer atmosphere: the shimmering corona, or “crown.” Made of rarefied gas heated to millions of degrees, with its atoms highly ionized (stripped of electrons), the diaphanous corona gets sculpted into streamers and loops by the Sun’s powerful magnetic field and shines with a light seen nowhere else. It is hauntingly beautiful and, without doubt, one of the most awesome sights in all of nature. During these moments, known as totality, you might even hear crickets chirping. And if you look up, you'll see the sun looks like an ominous black disk in the sky, with a faint glow all around it. (This is also the only time it's safe to look at the eclipse without protection — and only if you're in a place that's in the path of totality. More on that later.)

Nourish Your Inner Fire: Manipura Chakra Meditation

"Manipura is action, doing, going through the eye of the needle, breaking inertia."

The Manipura Chakra and the Aries New Moon share a resonance of fire energy, initiation, courage, individuality, and action. Also known as the Solar Plexus Chakra, this energy center is located behind the navel, around the area of the diaphragm. When the Manipura chakra is unblocked and balanced, clarity, self-assurance and decision-making can flow more easily. Embracing our inner power, we are able to embark on new beginnings with confidence and clarity.

"Mani = jewel, Pura = place, city. The color of the Manipura Chakra is yellow. The corresponding element is Fire, therefore it is also known as the Fire or Sun Centre. The fire element manifests in the body as heat in the Solar Plexus. The Manipura Chakra is the center of vitality. It controls our energy balance to strengthen and consolidate our health. This Chakra has an effect like a magnet, attracting Prana from the Cosmos."

"The Manipura chakra is also all about being able to deal with things, it’s how you ‘digest’ your life. Can you stand up for yourself? Are you strong and courageous, worthy of love and respect? Do you feel strong in your body and in the world? Fire is action and transformation. Allowing yourself to grow and become a better version of yourself means taking action and leaving behind what no longer works for you."

A ritual for balancing the Manipura chakra:

~To begin, gather a  yellow candle, incense (sandalwood, ginger, or cinnamon), and a Clear Quartz or Citrine crystal.

~Find a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and breathe deeply.

~Light the yellow candle and the chosen incense. Hold the clear quartz or citrine crystal in your hands. Take a few deep breaths, grounding yourself in the present moment. Close your eyes and set your intention for the ritual.

~Visualize the Manipura chakra as a vibrant yellow wheel of energy spinning at your solar plexus. Close your eyes and visualize a warm, golden light radiating from the crystal, filling your entire body with its healing energy. Imagine this golden light flowing into your solar plexus, clearing away any blockages or imbalances in the manipura chakra.

~As you breathe deeply, affirm to yourself: "I am confident. I am empowered. I am worthy of my personal power." Stay in this meditative state for as long as you feel comfortable, allowing the energy of the crystal to nourish and balance your manipura chakra.

~After the meditation, take a few moments to reflect on your experience. Write down any insights, feelings, or sensations that arose during the ritual. When you feel ready, extinguish the candle and the incense.

A good way to close the ritual is to express gratitude for the energy of the Manipura chakra and the guidance received. You may carry the clear quartz or citrine crystal with you throughout the day as a reminder of your personal power and inner strength.

Some other suggestions for nourishing inner fire include..."Boil sliced ginger for a tea, build a campfire, eat a spicy curry, take a heated yoga class, go for a run, massage with sandalwood oil, make a plan, and execute it."

"What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us.
And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen.
~Henry David Thoreau
