New Moon 20°43' Scorpio | Monday 11/13/23 at 1:27 am PT

I invoke the spirit within me to swim to the depths of my soul
I allow my darkness the room to breathe as my inner light illuminates all.
I release any lingering fear of illusion.
I am learning more about my deepest and rawest emotions,
and am coming to the surface renewed and ready for change.

New Moon 20°43' Scorpio | Monday 11/13/23 at 1:27 am PT

"This new moon in Scorpio has the potential to bring us face to face with a kind of dark night of the soul. We may visit that to some degree or other depending on where we are at this time. What is it at this moment that is most vital to your continuing transformative process? For that is surely one of Scorpio’s most significant roles.

Scorpio has laser vision, pierces illusion and dives deep into all areas of human experience and  rises then to greater heights. Scorpio is the only astrology sign that has three levels—the scorpion, earthly existence, eagle, transcending the density of the phenomenal world and the dove that rises to heaven and reflects to us our divine nature.

We may be challenged in these few days around this new moon in a way that impels us to visit areas of shadow that have prevented our ‘acquisition’ of Truth. We want to be aware of what is not happening with ‘ease and grace’ in our lives. Am I open to ‘going with the flow’? Do I have some measure of resistance that creates a road block? My intention then, to relax, do not think, do not judge but be clear about knowing my path is right in front of me and does not require the interference of my thinking to assist me on this journey. That is organically and divinely orchestrated!

~Anna Chapman, "Find Freedom Beyond the Limits of the Mind"

"The Scorpio New Moon is a time of profound emotional transformation. Scorpio helps us understand our hidden truths, including our unconscious patterns and desires. The New Moon helps us plant seeds of intention for new beginnings. In Scorpio, the New Moon helps us define the truth we want to live. It’s a time to express what we need, desire, and are ready for in our lives. It’s also a time to listen to the truth of our intuition. Scorpio heightens both our emotions and intuitive knowing this New Moon, giving us the keys to crafting a new vision for the future...

As you peel back the layers of emotion this New Moon, you unlock hidden doorways to your intuition. You always know exactly what to do when you need to do it. You just need to learn to listen to yourself. Unprocessed or suppressed emotions, though, can block your inner knowing. As you write intentions for this New Moon, follow your intuition. Let your inner truth guide you. Do not question it, do not ask for logical steps or proof, and do not ignore it. Listen to your intuition and let it help you define and new reality, one that is based in your present energy, not your past definitions."

"While modern spirituality often focuses on “love and light,” Scorpio asks us to embrace the totality of the human experience. The magic emerges when we transmute fear into fuel for our evolution. Darkness contains hidden truths that liberate us when brought into the light.

Scorpio energy awakens our passion through pleasure and pain. Like the mythic phoenix, we rise most powerfully from the ashes of destruction and rebirth. The nervous intensity of Scorpio compels us toward truth at the hidden, subterranean level of life.

The stillness of silence becomes a womb for self-renewal when we soften into it, instead of fearing it. Scorpio dissolves outdated power dynamics when we surrender our need for control. Then space emerges for true soulful desires."

Self-Compassion

My friend and I snickered the first time
we heard the meditation teacher, a grown man,
call himself honey, with a hand placed
over his heart to illustrate how we too
might become more gentle with ourselves
and our runaway minds. It’s been years
since we sat with legs twisted on cushions,
holding back our laughter, but today
I found myself crouched on the floor again,
not meditating exactly, just agreeing
to be still, saying honey to myself each time
I thought about my husband splayed
on the couch with aching joints and fever
from a tick bite—what if he never gets better?—
or considered the threat of more wildfires,
the possible collapse of the Gulf Stream,
then remembered that in a few more minutes,
I’d have to climb down to the cellar and empty
the bucket I placed beneath a leaky pipe
that can’t be fixed until next week. How long
do any of us really have before the body
begins to break down and empty its mysteries
into the air? Oh honey, I said—for once
without a trace of irony or blush of shame—
the touch of my own hand on my chest
like that of a stranger, oddly comforting
in spite of the facts.

Note from the poet:

“I wrote ‘Self-Compassion’ the summer after the pandemic first began when I felt so worried for the state of our country and planet, when everything in our individual lives also seemed to be falling apart—the leaky pipe, my husband’s health. I’m a recovering cynic, so self-care practices can still seem silly to me, but in this case, I had no choice but to be kind to myself, the wise words of Wendell Berry echoing in my mind: ‘Be joyful though you have considered all the facts.’” ~James Crews

“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”

~Henry James

“Perhaps the most "spiritual" thing any of us can do is simply to look through our own eyes, see with eyes of wholeness, and act with integrity and kindness.”
