Life is a bag of opposites seeking to be harmonized. Even happiness and love, have their counterparts in sadness and fear. It’s a bit like a multi-dimensional puzzle we are given, to have fun with, but it can also be frustrating and confusing. The mistake is in making the assumption that we should ever and always be in a place of “feel good-happiness” and that if we are not perpetually feeling great, that somehow there is something wrong with us. This can be a very painful place to be, both mentally. and emotionally.
To believe that something is wrong with us (wrong with another or a circumstance) because we are not in the “feel-good” space, is to miss the opportunity inherent in experiencing painful emotions. My practice has expanded by helping clients realize that most of our thoughts, which often arise in reaction to sufferable feelings or circumstances, are not the absolute truth (even though the mind may believe it is), and that when closely examined, these can be transformed so that joy, clarity and stillness in mind can return to us. Every intuitive session I conduct, contains a bit of this teaching within the reading. When a client internalizes it, and understands that we are not our thoughts and feelings, the change in mood and the behaviors that shift, are palpable and evident. In other words, our thoughts, at the mind level can be re-calibrated, so that our thought patterns yield higher ratios of joy to pain. We need both sides of the coin to grow into a knowingness of our True Natures which are always Love, Light and Power. So what is the purpose of experiencing the opposing emotions in life? Each emotion is in motion towards it’s polar opposite. Every hunger pain you have is making the dinner you will eat that much more delicious, and satiating. In the process you may learn more gratitude for the food; more compassion for those who prepared it; more joy in it’s taste, appearance and smell; more of a feeling of being cared for by the host or cook, than if you were not that hungry or starving. By the same principle your satiation will eventually move to hunger pains again, starting the process all over. Both experiences are needed to teach us about ourselves and the world. The problem is when we have thoughts that have occupied space at the subconscious level we can’t remember or would rather forget. It requires diligence on our part to slow down and listen to the soft spaces within our psyches so that our learning becomes rich and deep; so that our shifts can be facilitated from the very foundations of our co-creative powers and strengths. Mind over matter is a phrase that embodies this practice because all matter is simply a form of vibration and when we master our own vibrations at the level of the mind and emotions, we can transform matter in our lives. It’s from chaining our inner environment that the outer world starts responding to us differently. We can also learn how to make the things that really matter, the forefront, instead of making matter, for too long, all of the thought and conclusions we become attached to.So how does one slow down then, and listen deeply? One thing to do is to have a breathing practice that emphasizes the hold or gap, in-between the inhalation and the exhalation. It’s the gap that is the secret. It’s the holds that are necessary for insight to strike, for wisdom to come in, for change to be facilitated. A basic rhythmic pattern I recommend is to inhale for 6 counts and hold for 3; then exhale for 6 counts and hold at the bottom for 3. It’s a basic, but very powerful practice to slow things down and you may be surprised at the things you notice if you do 7-9 cycles (one inhalation and one exhalation is a cycle). The breathing must come from the lower abdominal pelvic area and not moving from the upper chest, which has an opposite effect. As well, slowing down the pace makes it more powerful in more ways than one. To make it even more effective, on the last few cycles, you may focus on the tip of your nose on the inhalation and then change your focus to the hands and the feet on the exhalation. There’s also a secret in that technique as well.In my March workshop called “Mind Over Matter” we’ll be discussing these principles in more detail and working together to clear out old energies and thought processes that no longer serve us. We’ll be recalibrating the mind for greater energetic (conscious and sub-conscious) alignment with what you wish to create in your life.Come with an open mind and the willingness to play in practicing together. Intuitive energy healing is based on constants that make the practice without fail. You cannot fail to use gravity to build your muscles up, since gravity simply exists whether you believe it or not. Such is the same with the art and science of energy-work. If you put this breathing assignment into practice before the class you might have some interesting things to share with us, and I’d be open and happy to hear it. Bring your gift in your presence as well as your insight on March 20th, 7pm-8:30, if you want to experiment with increasing your inner power, having more joy and becoming more effective in all you do.To pre-register call Paradise Found at (805) 564-3573.
