Like a twinkling star in the the dark black night, I'm a tiny point of light, That may be surrounded by anger or fear, But will love with all my might.
As I was writing this month's article, my favorite astrologer, Kaypacha, offered the above mantra in his weekly Pele Report. I felt it was a gift meant to be shared. The reminder to love and shine our brilliance especially on the darkest night, is just one of the many gifts of The Star.
We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts we traverse afar. Field and fountain, moor and mountain, Following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of night, Star of royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect light.
In my Waldorf Kindergarten, at Christmas time, I would tell the story, but I didn’t mention any names. The story of the father and the mother, about to have a baby, on a difficult journey, who needed to find a place to to stay, and every place was full except a barn, where they placed their newborn baby in a manger, kept warm by the lovely animals, only to have kings and shepherds come bearing gifts, talking about following a star to find them.
I never mentioned any names because I believe that this star potential is in every one of us. In archetypal terms, we embody all of these roles, as the mother, the father and the child (not to mention everyone else present, from the kings to the donkey ;) ), and to give them names puts that mystical experience outside us.
The birthday story at the Waldorf school, one I told at least 18 to 20 times each year I taught, speaks of a place where star children live and play until one of them notices a window in the wall and sees earth and feels the urge to visit that blue and green jewel. A guardian angel appears after they visit and finds just the right parents, and place & season & time to be born on Earth, they take a journey around the sun, and around the moon and then they find that child’s star. The child takes a scrub brush and polishing cloth and cleans and shines that star so that after they are born they can look up on the night sky and remember where they came from.
December is a wonderful month to speak about the Star, and in light of the recent tragedies we could all use a little hope, for the Star is the most hopeful card in the whole of the tarot. This particular card represents the Age of Aquarius, which dawned in the 60’s and is now rising in the bright morning light. Being an Aquarius, as a child (and very girly girl) I was so disappointed that the symbol for Aquarius, the water bearer, was always depicted as a guy, hoisting a large jug, or just the jug itself. I wondered why there were no pretty examples, why did it always have to be a man? In the 90’s this began to change and a few female water bearers started to appear. When I first saw this particular star card my heart lit with joy, not only is the water bearer here a girl, she is a MERMAID!!!! I LOVE MERMAIDS!!!
The gift of this card, for me personally, as well as the grand gift for us all, is a reminder of the divine self, the reason we chose to be here, to come to this beautiful planet. The Star reminds us that just being here, and simply being ourselves, loving what and who we love and en-joying our life, this is enough. What if there didn’t need to be any more? What if there was nothing to prove, nothing to live up to? What if just Breathing was enough? What kinds of choices would you make? How would you live your life?
This has not always been true for me. For most of my life, probably from adolescence on, there have been many times when I struggled with depression and wondered what I was doing here, wanted to leave because my life was not unfolding in any way I imagined I “wanted” it to. In January of this year, 2015, I finally received an answer that made sense to me when I asked the Universe/God/dess to please tell me why I was here. I woke the next morning, (I’m pretty sure it was January 6, Epiphany) with a powerful prime directive that has been the guiding light for me to follow ever since.
It came during the liminal space, the time between sleeping and waking, and it was loud and clear, in these exact words (yes, in the royal “We”): “We are here to LOVE, Ourselves and Everyone Else; and to BE LOVED, by Ourselves and Everyone Else; and to TRANSFORM THE VERY DEFINITION OF LOVE for Ourselves, the World, and All Of Creation.” My response to this was, “Well, then I guess I better just settle in and get comfortable, there is SO much loving to do in the world right now.” And that day a series of beautiful miracles and coincidences began which have made this an incredibly blessed, and sometimes heartbreaking, year so far. And whenever it gets really challenging, or I feel myself getting caught up in emotional turmoil I am able to anchor back into my prime directive, follow my guiding star with its powerful message.
The mermaid water bearer reminds me that it wasn’t wrong or silly to want to see a beautiful girly symbol of my astrological sign, much less to to BE a beautiful girly girl, a beautiful woman, in my own right. And recently, as I have come to realize that I am here to be an “IlluminAnchor” (my favorite new word that I think I may have coined ;) I rely upon that star, my star, to remind me of my light, that I, and we all, come from God and are also of the earth. My favorite visualization to this end is to see my spirit self as a ray in the star of the heart of god which shines down from the heavens into the top of my head and flows down my entire being, mixing with the energy coming from the umbilical cord, my energetic b’earth-right, that anchors me to the center of the planet, as one of her children.
As an IlluminAnchor, I am acknowledging that I chose to be here, to come to this planet and anchor light and love in this reality, with, at the very least, simply my presence. I use this word in place of the word ascension, which feels to me like the desire/intention to get out of this world I worked so hard to get to. I have come here to check in, in every way, to help b’earth a new reality. Its part of the reason I don’t currently drink or do drugs (besides chocolate), there are too many reasons to stay present to the beauty that is all around me and to shed light on it so that others might recognize it as well and want to IlluminAnchor with me. Have you wondered why we are here? This is the answer that works for me. What is your answer? What does your star tell you?
The Star that is represented on this particular card, from the Sun Moon Tarot deck, is called a Merkabah (Hey, wait a minute, could there be a link between a Mer-kabah and a Mer-maid? Hmmm….). This symbol goes beyond two triangles coming together to make a Star of David (a beautiful symbol of sacred union in its own right), extending into two pyramids coming together for a wholly different experience! Wowza! And while some believe this to be a symbol of ascension, again I say, lets make it a tool of IlluminAnchoring.
What if the Merkabah was helpful in anchoring the new paradigm, here on Earth, now, assisting us during these difficult times, and actually bringing “in-spir-ation” and “en-light-enment” and healing here, where we need it so much? What if we all focused on being here, now, breathing, and loving ourselves and each other, and that made all the difference? Let’s bring so much of our light and love and beauty here, to this reality, right now, that there is just no more room for terrorism or war. Let’s bright it out with love.
Let’s do our Ho'oponopono prayers over and over and over again, until they are the only words we can remember. This powerful prayer reminds us, that one time or another we have all held violence in our minds or hearts and helps us to take responsibility for that rather than avoid it and cast our shadows onto others:
Ho'oponopono
Divine Creator, Father-Mother-Child as One,If I, my family, relatives and ancestors have offended you, your family, relatives and ancestors in thought, deed and actions from the beginning of creation to the Present, we ask your forgiveness.Let us cleanse, purify, release, and cut all negative memories, blocks, energies and vibrations and transmute these unwanted energies into pure Light. And it is done.
I LOVE YOUPLEASE FORGIVE MEI AM SORRYTHANK YOU
Love them for the shadow they are wearing for our collective unconscious and release them. Love them for the tragedy and suffering they are going through, love ourselves as we grieve for the world, hold us all in our hearts, even those we find it so easy to blame and hate, and give it over to God, as we do our jobs and shine and shine and shine.
That’s my goal, my objective, my intention. What’s yours? Come by on Dec 19th and we can look at what the cards have to bring into consciousness for you, so you can release more of your shine.
In the meantime, Be you, you made all that effort to get here; the world will more than adjust, she welcomes your specific original essence vibration in order to help us spin just right, besides, everyone else is taken!
All my love,Kristine Marie
So Many Blessings to all of those who passed, and those of us who lost them, in the recent tragedies. May we hold all of us with all of the LOVE in our hearts.
Daisies
The stars are everywhere to-night,Above, beneath me and around; They fill the sky with powdery lightAnd glimmer from the night-strewn ground; For where the folded daisies areIn every one I see a star.
And so I know that when I passWhere no sun's shadow counts the hoursAnd where the sky was there is grassAnd where the stars were there are flowers,Through the long night in which I lieStars will be shining in my sky.
