Freedom and Soaring to New Heights

At October’s new moon we travelled through unknown territory, plumbing the depths, visiting the secret recesses of our fears. Defying the laws of Hades and escaping the jaws of Cerberus we ascended to the light. Now we shine a little brighter and notice Life too, radiating, pulsing in a way that we may not have noticed previously. We receive and emanate with continuous uninterrupted majesty, the majesty of all of nature in a single heart beat.

With our new perspective, seeing everything with greater clarity, recognizing that those with whom we interact are the unified expression of the divine exhale we are ready to rise again as we stride boldly into the sign of Sagittarius. Knowing that one breath is unified breath and each exhale a creation with infinite potential--we soar, accomplish quickly and manifest bit by bit the unified dream of freedom! Free of conditioning and set free as unlimited being.

We are caught anew in the current of Life that rushes forward. Resistance is no longer easy. We must go with the flow or drown. We meet our Truth along the way and are a bold expression of that; a nonverbal expression that touches deeply and quietly disengages us from the habitual cycle of action and reaction.

When Eugene O’Neill speaks of “something greater than my own life” he refers to that which is beyond the ego, the ego that traps us in relational experience. We wander with only a partial view. If we pause our words that point to the phenomenal, we begin to notice the space between the words that is Life, the Life that is all things. Our true self is the space, the stillness. Every thing else is the story.

Freedom from the thoughts that create ‘our’ story requires us to take risks, let go, have faith and to trust what is, always has been, always will be. It is good to remember that essentially there is really never anything we need DO to acquire freedom. That is our natural state. However, noticing when I am not in agreement with what occurs in this moment fully aligns me with the process of reuniting. When I disagree with what happens in this moment there is separation from the peace that is acceptance of the natural flow and our suffering begins.

New Moon November 23 1 deg. Sagittarius

This new moon in Sagittarius includes a stellium-- Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury.  The energy of this stellium unites the conscious, emotional self with an optimism and enthusiasm for what lies outside of the box. Our thoughts turn from a personal focus to a desire to expand our experience into unknown territory that holds answers that we have not thought of.

Our aim is upward and outward like the Centaur’s arrow. As the symbol for Sagittarius the Centaur, half-man, half-horse represents the physical and mental/psychological experience but with aspirations that guide him into unexplored territory. Faith and trust in the journey are amplified now as Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius is highly aspected in this new moon chart.  It is in trine aspect to the new moon and on this day goes direct from a period of retrograde (retrograde motion 7/28/22). Full steam ahead! Very positive vibes for growth, expansion, optimism and revealing Truth. A global hug, community hug, family hug, hug your partner, hug your self! The continued expansion of what is good for one is good for all—kindness and sharing.

It’s that time of year! It’s that time of Life!

Emphasizing good will, good fortune and wiser ways that describe Jupiter, is the fact that the Sun and Moon, to which Jupiter is trine, are ‘friends’ of the Lord of Heaven. In Vedic astrology these planets have a harmonious relationship which enhances and amplifies the positive aspects of all planets involved.

Contributing to the transcendent energy of this new moon is Pluto. It sextiles Sun/Moon and Jupiter creating a small talent trine that we have mentioned on a few occasions as being present in the charts of many famous and successful individuals. There is a highly creative aspect to the small talent trine as the two sextiles present a challenge while the easy flow of energy of the trine allows for access to our gifts, in this case, conscious expression of a desire for freedom from emotional constraints—flourishing in how we feel based on connection to unification rather than just personal perspective.

We see this freedom to simply Be reflected to us through young children, animals, all things nature. It is our joy! This excerpt is from an essay by writer Brian Doyle, Their Irrepressible Innocence, Orion Magazine. Whenever he would feel “a moist, gray November in my soul”  Mr. Doyle would visit a kindergarten class.

Allowing our selves to revel in joy, becoming the expansive moment by not having an argument with it is the freedom we seek.

To put it in a nutshell we are blessed with a time ripe for embracing change that furthers our journey in a positive way! Look to where Jupiter transiting is in your own chart to see what area you will feel the need for freedom to express the nature of that house. For instance, Jupiter in your ninth house will emphasize a need for freedom to explore and travel in general. Higher education is highlighted. The ninth house naturally ruled by Sagittarius is also about spiritual growth so Jupiter here leaves no stone unturned in a  quest for ‘knowledge’ and Truth.

It is also important to pay attention to which house the new moon is in your natal chart, the house that Sagittarius rules as all of these qualities will shine through that house as well. For instance if Sagittarius rules your seventh house of relationship you may find your self seeking freedom from anything that constrains you and/or reaching for new plateaus in how you communicate with those you are in a one on one with. With a deeper understanding of who you are, you may now see the other in a different light—not good, not bad just different.

Also noticing where natal Jupiter is, the house and aspects to it as all of these will have the light shone upon them for a few days and then, ushering in a new cycle of personal expression and vision. It can be that you realize a new dimension to that Mercury square Jupiter such as not just coming up with ideas but being able to execute them in a focused manner. Knowing what needs to get done does get it all done, and the rest is superfluous. Jupiter and Mars—realizing how much you can take on and complete without burnout—that this is service without destroying your physical being.

Enthusiasm, positive attitude and joy are contagious. We can happily taste the flavour of Sagittarius knowing that we are all kicking it up a notch. What a way to complete this year and prepare for the next! We have so much to give thanks for! Blessings to us all as we continue into more light!
